Phnom Penh (Oct 26, 2020): Y Chhe Group, the sole importer of Anchor Cement and leading supplier of construction materials in Cambodia brought kit donations to 60 families from two villages affected by the rain floods in Battambang province.
The charity drive to the flood-affected people was carried out on Saturday 24 October 2020 after Y Chhe Group saw the difficulties and shortcomings that people are experiencing due to rain floods.
A total of 60 families most affected by the floods from O Thmey and Phnom Touch villages, Pich Chenda commune, Phnom Proek district, Battambang province received the same donations of 50 kg of rice, a box of noodles and canned fish.
Y Chhe Group Managing Director Te Vong Chhay stated: "Participating in addressing the challenges that people are facing, especially because of the current floods, has always been one of the core goals of the company."
He added: " This is an expression of love and compassion during difficult times in the Cambodian family and this is also an act of social retribution that gives trust and use of our products, especially Anchor Cement."
Mr. Eap Mao, Chief of Administration Police Post of Pech Chenda Commune, said: "Thanks to Y Chhe Group and this is a priceless generosity and helpfulness in difficult times. This donation is very valuable for the people who are suffering from the floods, especially the people in O Thmey and Phnom Touch."
According to the Police Post chief, more than 120 families were affected by the floods, but 60 families were the worst hit after several days of heavy rains since the beginning of this month till now have caused flash floods immediately.
According to a recent preliminary report by the National Committee for Disaster Management, rain floods since the beginning of October have flooded nine capitals and provinces, including Phnom Penh, Kandal, Svay Rieng, Kampong Chhnang, Pursat, Battambang, Pailin, Banteay Meanchey and Stung Treng and damaged many properties.
According to the same report, Battambang was the most flooded province, affecting people's homes and causing the most severe damage to road infrastructures.
Two weeks ago, Y Chhe Group also handed over 30 tons of rice to Pursat, Kampong Speu, and Kandal provincial administrations, with each province receiving the same 10 tons of rice to distribute to flood-affected residents.
